With over twenty years of experience working at two major lighting design firms in New York City, Mitul Parekh conceived aarkh in 2018 to continue designing with light, albeit more intimately. aarkh's mission is to illuminate human-scaled architectural spaces, only few projects at a time, with rigorous and focused collaboration with the Architects and also to develop innovative light products working with inspiring manufacturers. Having designed for a diverse range of projects, many of them large-scale, award-winning and with world renowned architects, aarkh's founder has the knowledge, experience and insight to lead any lighting project and create and refine any lighting product.

SPACES

aarkh provides complete lighting design services for select architectural projects of any type utilizing the wealth of knowledge accrued by Mitul Parekh's vast experience of illuminating architecture, from simple to the complex, with ingenuity and innovation. Services cover everything from conceptualization to commissioning including design development, photometrics, various analyses, detailed specifications, light controls, construction documentation and all aspects of construction administration. aarkh strives to work only on a few projects at a time in order to provide focused and detailed attention towards each client. In addition to permanent architectural projects, aarkh also designs for temporary spaces and unique installations. aarkh also specializes in art lighting harnessing Mitul's experience with illuminating art work by artists such as Olafur Eliasson, Frank Stella, Sol Lewitt, et al. 

PRODUCTS

aarkh advises global light fixture manufacturers on their products at any stage, from inception to already launched, from a lighting designer's point of view assessing their performance, visual comfort, aesthetics and market needs. Mitul Parekh has been involved in the custom design of light fittings in numerous projects around the world  that utilized his technical know-how, attention to details and coordination skills. A notable project is Bloomberg Headquarters in London covering over one million square feet where 90% of the fittings were fully custom-designed for the project employing the latest LED technologies. Spanning over 5 years, Mitul oversaw their conception, specification, mock-ups, installation and commissioning while working at Tillotson Design Associates. Almost all past projects involved some level of customization of standard products to cohere with the project needs, which often fine-tuned the products for the general market. In its work with global light fixture manufacturers directly, aarkh channels all of Mitul's experience and expertise into the development and refinement of light products. aarkh provides hands-on face-to-face collaboration in the factory based on project needs.
